NOVA's Winter Session provides a valuable opportunity for students to make the most of their winter break by offering a selection of asynchronous online courses. These 4-week courses enable students to earn credit hours, stay on track with their academic goals, and get ahead in their studies. Whether you want to explore a new subject, fulfill a prerequisite, or accelerate your degree, NOVA Winter Session has the courses for you. Our online platform allows you to learn at your own pace and conveniently access course materials from anywhere.

Winter Session

  • Winter Session enrollment is restricted to one course.
  • Enrollment counts toward spring semester enrollment limit.
  • Classes start on December 18, 2024. 

Financial Aid

NOVA Winter Session is an extension of the Spring 2025 academic semester. Students who receive Federal Student Aid or Military Benefits should check with the  Financial Aid Office  to determine the eligibility and availability of funds for the NOVA Winter Session. It is important for students to understand how participating in the Winter Session may affect their financial aid status, including any potential impact on their enrollment status, credit hours, and satisfactory academic progress.

Dates

Enrollment for Winter Session begins in October 2024!   This incredible opportunity allows you to complete an entire semester's worth of coursework in four weeks. With a condensed timeframe, you'll experience an intense yet focused study schedule, ensuring maximum efficiency.

Registration

Enrolling in the Winter Session might have varying effects on students who are recipients of financial aid, military benefits, or international students. To gain a clearer understanding of these potential impacts, we encourage you to reach out to the relevant counselor for more information.

Send the completed form to onlinestudentservices@nvcc.edu with the subject line Winter Session Registration.

Look for two confirmation email messages:

  • You will receive an email confirmation from the system with a ticket number acknowledging submission of your Registration Form.
  • NOVA Online will send you an email confirmation of your enrollment status.

  • All resources are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week all year round.
  • Access to financial aid through the 24-Hour Student Support Center who can answer many financial aid questions;
  • Access to library services through NOVA Library’s Ask the Librarian;

  • Access to Canvas support through Instructure;
  • Access to exam proctoring through Respondus Lockdown Browser and Monitor; students who prefer live proctoring or have academic accommodations will be eligible to request exams proctoring through NOVA Online’s Proctor Request form.
