NOVA All Access is the default option for getting your course materials at NOVA.
When you register for classes each semester, you’re automatically enrolled in All Access and charged a fee of $22.50 per credit hour. The fee will appear on your student account, along with your tuition and other fees.
The program is designed to lower the cost of your course materials, but you can still get your materials from the bookstore on your own if you prefer. The choice is yours.
Use this calculator to decide whether All Access provides the things you needat a cost that works for you. If the All Access cost is higher than your materials would cost to get on your own, you can opt out of the program.
NOTE: All Access does NOT apply to Workforce and Professional Development Students or Contracted Dual Enrollment Students.
Current Status
The opt-out window for spring 2025 opens on December 21, 2024 and closes on your earliest census date. To see when the opt-out window opens and closes for your earliest session, check NOVA’s Academic Calendar and the NOVA Online Calendar.
How it Works
1. Register For Classes
When you register for courses, you’re automatically enrolled in the program and the bookstore will start preparing your order.
2. Verify Your Order
Starting 30 days before the first day of classes, you will receive an email to verify your order and select your fulfillment preference.
3. Receive Your Textbooks!
You’ll get an email notification when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships. The digital materials for your course(s) will be delivered within Canvas.
After enrolling in your courses, you can access your personalized course materials page using the button below:
With All Access, your books are automatically bundled. Then you choose:
Pick them up on campus, or
Have them shipped directly to you
Your electronic materials are automatically added to your course on Canvas.
Remember: All Access is optional. But…
It’s all or nothing. You can opt out each semester, but your decision applies to all your classes that semester.
You can opt out (or opt in again) only at certain times. Don’t miss your chance to choose what’s right for you.
If you opt out, the fee will be refunded. If you opt back in, the fee is added again.
Before you decide…
Calculate your cost for materials with and without All Access. If your cost is lower without All Access, you should opt out. When you’re doing your calculations, think about this:
At $22.50 per credit hour, a 15-credit semester would cost $337.50.
All Access doesn’t cover items that can’t be returned (e.g., lab goggles). You’ll need to get these items on your own. Don’t forget to add them to your total when calculating costs.
In All Access, most books are rentals—but not all. Workbooks and books with claim codes are purchases (that you can keep) because they can’t be reused. You can choose to purchase your rented books at the end of the semester.
Opting Out of All Access
You can opt out of NOVA All Access beginning 30 days before the start of your session. If you’re enrolled in multiple sessions, your opt-out window begins 30 days before your earliest session.
Example : If you’re enrolled in 15-week classes and 13-week classes, your opt-out window opens 30 days before the beginning of 15-week classes
How to opt out depends on whether you’re enrolled in 15-week or 1st 7-week courses.
If you are enrolled in a 15-week or 1st 7-week course:
Your opt-out window closes on the census date for 15-week classes (See NOVA’s academic calendar.)
During this time, you can opt out OR opt back in if you change your mind.
1. Click the Opt Out button below. 2. Review the benefits of participating in All Access. 3. Confirm your decision to opt out. (You’ll get a confirmation email from Barnes & Noble.)
If you decide to opt back in, you’ll find the link to do that in the confirmation email you get from Barnes & Noble.
If you are NOT enrolled in a 15-week or 1st 7-week course:
Your opt-out window closes on your earliest census date. If you’re enrolled in 13-week and 2nd 7-week courses, your window closes on the census date for 2nd 7-week courses.
1. To confirm you can opt out, contact your campus bookstore in person OR email am651@bncollege.com with your name, semester, NOVA email and ID. 2. If you’re eligible to opt out, you’ll get confirmation from the bookstore or via email. 3. To opt back in during your opt-out window, visit the bookstore.
