About Us
What are Intramural Sports?
Intramural Sports are designed to engage members of the same community in athletic competition with and against each other, separate from the intercollegiate athletic teams at NOVA.
At NOVA, intramural sports are inclusive to all students, faculty, and staff. Participants can form teams with friends, student organizations, or faculty/staff departments to compete in various organized sports or activities. Past activities have included soccer, bowling, flag football, and basketball, with opportunities for additional participation. These activities are typically structured as short seasons or tournament formats, with one team emerging as the Intramural Champion for each sport.
Do Intramurals Sports cost money to play?
Typically, Intramural Sports are free of charge. However, there may be occasional instances where a nominal fee is required for off-campus activities like golf or bowling. Rest assured; we always strive to keep costs for students as low as possible.
Who can participate in intramurals at NOVA?
All current NOVA students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to participate. Please ensure you bring your NOVA ID to each game to confirm eligibility to play.
How do I register a team?
Registration procedures for your team will vary depending on the activity or tournament. We will utilize both IMLeagues and Google Forms for registration purposes. Detailed instructions will be provided for each tournament on every campus.
I have created an account but when I search for NOVA the site tells me it's private. What do I do?
To create an account with IMLeagues, you must use your school email address. If you initially created an account using your Facebook information, but your Facebook account does not use your school email, you may encounter difficulty joining NOVA on the site, as it will appear as private. This privacy measure is in place to ensure that only current NOVA students, faculty, and staff are able to participate. If the platform were public, it would be challenging to verify the status of participants.
What do I do if I don't know enough people to register a team?
After creating an account to sign up with IMLeagues, you can register for an Intramural Sport as a free agent. You'll then wait for a team in need of an additional player to pick you up. Once assigned to a team, you can view their schedule on IMLeagues. If no team selects you, you will be automatically assigned to one.
Can I register for an Intramural Sport at a different campus than the campus I attend/teach classes?
Absolutely! Any current NOVA student, faculty, or staff member can register for any Intramural Sport, regardless of which campus they attend classes or work at.
