How to Review and Resolve Holds on Your Account
How To Unlock Your Holds
- A hold or service indicator on your record indicates that something is needed, such as a financial obligation, documents, advisement, permissions, or a conditional status such as Dual Enrollment or Probation.
To See Your Holds or To-Do List
- Log in to myNOVA > Click on SIS: Student Information System > My Student Information, which will bring you to the Student Center. Review the “Info, Actions & Holds” and “To-Do List” sections for more information.
Academic Dismissal or Academic Suspension
- Please review the policies.
- For more information or an appointment, contact the Counseling Office.
Academic Probation
- Please follow the directions for students on Academic Probation as outlined on the Academic Success Counseling website.
Application is Self-Sufficient
You based your tuition status on yourself and must submit additional documents to verify you are self-sufficient.
- Please submit the Independent Form, your Federal and State Income Taxes, photo ID and Immigration Documentation (if applicable) to the Financial Aid Support Center.

Debt to College or Debt to Controller
- For questions, contact your campus Business Office.
Debt to Financial Aid (Waiting for Information)
- Pay fees in your Student Information System.

Debt to Library
- Fees must be in person at the circulation desk.

Debt to Parking
- Pay fees at the Parking site.

Dual Enrollment or Home School/Special Provisions
- Learn more about Dual Enrollment.
- Go to the Dual Enrollment Checklist.
- Make an appointment with a Counselor.
English As Second Language
- For advising and more information, contact the Counseling Office.
ESL Level 2
You tested into English as a Second Language Level 2 and must apply with the Student Service Center.

Financial Aid is Being Held
- Check Your To-Do List (see How to above)

High School Student
- Submit your final High School Transcript
- Or submit an Early Cert Form to the Financial Aid Support Center.
New First Time in College
If you are a First Year Student under the age of 24:
- For steps to get started, contact the Admissions Office.
No High School/GED Graduation
- For advising and more information, contact the Counseling Office.
Permanent Foreign Applicant or Temp/No Foreign Application
- Submit your updated Immigration Documents to the Financial Aid Support Center.

Parent, Legal Guardian, Spouse
If you base your tuition status on a Parent, Legal Guardian or Spouse:
- Submit their immigration documents verifying a year of status to the Financial Aid Support Center.

Student Visa Admission
- International Students need to communicate with the Office of International Students.
Tuition - Legal Guardian
If you base your tuition status on your Legal Guardian:
- Submit the Court Order verifying they are your Legal Guardian to the Financial Aid Support Center.

Under 18/Parent Signature
You are under the age of 18 and must:
- Submit the Application results with your parent's signature

Valid Visa Verifications
- Submit your updated Immigration Documents to the Financial Aid Support Center.
