The Gift That Keeps Giving
All gifts made to the NOVA Foundation enhance excellence in education, expand access to programs for motivated students and enrich our community. Your gifts unleash the potential of underserved students and their dedicated teachers. Assisting a student in any capacity makes a profound impact on that student’s life that cannot be overstated.

Create a Scholarship
With as little as $500, you can contribute to a scholarship supporting deserving students. If you would like to donate to an existing scholarship, the minimum is $500. Gifts at this level go into our Boldly NOVA fund, which is used to help students stay in school, support faculty professorships, aid students in case of emergencies and help NOVA programs keep pace with today’s employer needs. To begin a new named annual scholarship, the minimum is $5,000. You can also fund a new endowed scholarship by donating a minimum is $25,000, which can be paid in installments. Any amount you are able to donate will make a difference in the life of a student.
Enroll in Payroll Deduction
Many companies today, as a part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, allow employees to designate a particular charity or organization to receive a pre-tax donation. Check with your employer and then contact us at foundation@nvcc.edu or 703-323-3023 to learn more.
If you are a NOVA employee, giving directly is easy. Regular payroll deductions can be a low-cost, high-impact method of changing lives for the better.

Donate to Celebrate a Special Occasion
Tap into your network to support NOVA students by asking for a donation to the NOVA Foundation for your birthday, wedding, a holiday or other special occasion. We all have enough stuff – help a student stay in school. Contact us at foundation@nvcc.edu or 703-323-3023 to learn more.
Honor a Friend or Family Member
Honor or memorialize a child, parent, grandparent, friend, family member or business associate by making a tax deductible gift to the NOVA Foundation in their name. Contact us at foundation@nvcc.edu or 703-323-3023 to learn more.
Donate Stocks, Bonds or Other Securities
Avoid the hassles of selling your stocks and bonds, donate them to the NOVA Foundation and reap more than financial rewards. Your donation may be worth much more as a tax deduction. You may avoid capital gains and income tax liability with your stock and bond donation. Donated items may qualify at the “fair market value” as a tax deduction. Contact us at foundation@nvcc.edu or 703-323-3023 to learn more.
Make a Bequest
The Foundation would be honored to be remembered in your estate or in the estate of a loved one. Bequests can take several forms such as:
- Specific bequest - a certain amount of cash, securities, or property.
- General bequest - property that is similar to all other items distributed, usually cash.
- Percentage bequest - a stated percentage of the donor's estate.
- Residual bequest - all or a portion of what remains of the estate after specific and general bequests are distributed.
Besides an outright bequest, donors can also set up a trust to benefit charitable organizations during or after their lifetime, such as a charitable remainder trust or charitable lead trust. Donors can also name one or more nonprofits as beneficiaries of an insurance policy or as the recipient of an IRA or another qualified retirement fund. Your donation would go directly to the advancement of NVCC students and faculty.
