An Exceptional Educational Value
Northern Virginia Community College offers its students an exceptional education at one of the lowest tuition rates of any college or university in the Washington, D.C., area.
Tuition Rate Change for Fall 2025 Semester
As you plan your Fall 2025 semester, we wanted to get you some important information about NOVA’s upcoming tuition rates.
Community college tuition rates in Virginia are determined by the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) State Board and this usually happens in May. That means we won’t know what tuition looks like for Fall 2025 until the middle of May.
Until tuition rates are set, your balance will be based on the Summer 2025 tuition rates.
- If you pay your balance and rates increase for Fall 2025, you will see a new balance on your account for the difference after the new rates are updated in SIS.
- If you are enrolled in a payment plan, your remaining scheduled payments will be updated automatically when the new rates are updated in SIS.
- If you have payment arrangements through another source (e.g., Veteran’s benefits, third party billing, or pre-paid plans) please work with the relevant office at NOVA.
Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2025 Tuition Rates
The total cost of enrollment is based on a charge per credit hour. Tuition is the same for credit and audit courses. The tuition and fee rates are effective for the Fall 2024 semester. Tuition is subject to change by action of the State Board of Community Colleges. Fees are payable with tuition and are charged on a per-credit-hour basis.
The Auxiliary Services Fee supports NOVA surface lot lighting, emergency response safety equipment, lot repair, and paving. It does not include the cost of a parking permit or visitor parking.
NOVA All Access is the default way to get your course materials at NOVA. With this program, you're automatically enrolled when you register for classes, and a fee of $22.50 per credit hour is added to your student account.
This fee appears along with your tuition and other charges. This per credit fee covers all required textbooks (physical and digital). You can opt out of NOVA All Access beginning 30 days before the start of your session. If you’re enrolled in multiple sessions, your opt-out window begins 30 days before your earliest session.
More information is available here. It does not apply to contracted Dual Enrollment students or Workforce and Professional Development Students (non-credit, registering through MyWorkforce).
