The Virginia State Board for Community Colleges is the governing body of the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) and in charge of the establishment and in control of all community colleges in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The VCCS is the agency responsible for the administration and supervision of the system of community colleges in Virginia under the authority of the State Board for Community Colleges.
Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) is one of the 23 community colleges in the VCCS. The Northern Virginia Community College Board acts in an advisory capacity to the State Board for Community Colleges.
The president of NOVA is the chief executive officer and reports directly to the chancellor of the VCCS on the establishment and operation of NOVA. The College organizational chart below details NOVA's structure.
