How to Register for a Class

  1. Visit the Schedule of Classes. Search for a class and select the class number.

  2. Enroll in credit classes at NOVA, use our Student Information System (SIS).

  3. Access the Student Information System (SIS) and log in to myNOVA.
    Look up your username and set your password from the myNOVA login page.

  4. Need help on searching for an online class? Find a NOVA Online Class.

How to Register for a Workforce or Continuing Education Class

For those interested in short-term professional and continuing education courses outside of our credit programs, registration is continuous throughout the semester and remains open until the course maximum is reached. Please contact the NOVA Workforce office for more information.

Students may add or drop classes during the first week of instruction via myNOVA. The drop/add period varies for each term. Please refer to the academic calendar for drop/add deadlines.

Learn on Campus: In Person

You’ll use: CANVAS to supplement in-class learning

Where: 100% on campus   When: Scheduled class period(s)   How: In MyNOVA (SIS), search Mode of Instruction - In Person

  1. Choose a campus location for in-person meetings
  2. Carefully read the course notes for details

Learn on Campus: In Person and Online (Hybrid/Hyflex)

You’ll use: CANVAS or Zoom to supplement in-class learning

When: Scheduled class on the days and times you prefer  Where: 50% on campus, 50% at home

How: In MyNOVA (SIS), search Mode of Instruction - In Person;

  1. Take the quiz - Is a Hybrid Course Right For Me?
  2. Choose a campus location for in person meetings
  3. Hybrid classes have a section number containing 'Y' (ex. 02YA)
  4. Carefully read the course notes for details

Learn@Home: Live-Streamed Via Zoom

You’ll use: Zoom   Where: 100% at home   When: Scheduled class period(s)

How: In MyNOVA (SIS), search Mode of Instruction - Interactive Classroom Video;

  1. Carefully read the course notes for details
  2. The location will read Virtual - Real time
  3. The room assignment will read Virtual - Real time

Learn@Home: Online, On Your Own Time

You’ll use: CANVAS   Where: 100% at home   When: Independently, on the days and times you prefer

How: In MyNOVA (SIS), search Mode of Instruction - Online

  1. Fully online classes have a section number beginning with 'E ' (ex. E01N) 
  2. The class note will say: "Online course offered by NOVA Online"
