(ANNANDALE, Va., August 14, 2024) - The Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) has named Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) President Anne M. Kress as the Southern Region chief executive officer for 2024.
Kress has been president of NOVA since January 2020 and is recognized as one of the nation’s leading community college chief executives. She is dedicated to serving the NOVA community and is active in the wider Northern Virginia region, serving on the boards of the Northern Virginia Chamber, Capital Area Food Bank and the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area. She is an elected member of the American Council on Education Board and was twice elected to the American Association of Community Colleges Board of Directors.
NOVA is proud of President Kress for her thoughtful and inspiring leadership of our College. NOVA Board Chair Ambassador Joseph Huggins said, “This recognition underscores President Kress’ unwavering dedication and compassion for NOVA’s students and staff. Her leadership drives impactful change and reflects her commitment to educational excellence. Virginia Community College System Chancellor David Doré also extended his congratulations to President Kress. He said, “No one, and I mean this with all sincerity, deserves this award more than Dr. Anne Kress. I knew of her work long before I came to Virginia and respected her immensely. But working with her over the past year, I highly value her leadership. NOVA is recognized as one of the national leaders in driving the direction of community colleges.”
The ACCT is a nonprofit educational organization of governing boards, representing more than 6,500 elected and appointed trustees who serve on over 500 governing boards of community, technical and junior colleges in the U.S. and beyond.
