Clinical Simulation Center

Clinical Simulation Center (CSC) Overview

The Clinical Simulation Center (CSC) is dedicated to providing students in nursing and health science programs with valuable simulated experiences. Our CSC staff collaborates with faculty, course directors, and facilitators to develop and implement simulation training and assessments.

Hours and Location:

  • Hours of Operation: 8:30 am - 5 pm, Monday to Friday
  • Location: MEC Campus - Suite 160

Important Information:

  • A faculty member must be present during all CSC sessions.
  • New programs require individual consultation to ensure tailored support.
  • For more complex cases, instructors are advised to conduct a pilot run to ensure a smooth and effective simulation.
  • Scheduling a pilot run is strongly encouraged for all new programs, particularly those involving scenario-based simulations.
  • We offer support for curriculum development, scenario design templates, and provide a sample formative evaluation tool.

For further assistance or to schedule a consultation, please reach out to our CSC staff. We are committed to enhancing your educational experience through effective simulation training.

Scheduling

To ensure fair and equitable allocation of CSC resources, including staff, space, supplies, equipment, manikins, and simulators, faculty and staff must adhere to the following scheduling steps:

  1. Check Availability:

    • Review the CSC Calendar to check the availability of resources before selecting a date for your session.
  2. Submit Request:

    • Complete the online Clinical Simulation Request Form at least 2 weeks before your planned simulation date.
    • Receive an email receipt of submission within 24 hours.
  3. Scenario Set-up Form:

    • Submit the online Scenario Set-up Form within the same timeframe.
    • This form must be completed at least 2 weeks before the simulation to confirm your reservation and adequately prepare the desired scenario.
  4. Faculty Consultation:

    • A faculty member must meet with or correspond via email with the simulation manager to review scenario details at least 2 weeks before the requested date.
  5. Post-Simulation Cleanup:

    • After completing the simulation scenario, students and faculty must restore all simulation center equipment to its original state.
    • The CSC is a shared space, and users are expected to clean up after themselves.
    • Simulation rooms, control rooms, and debriefing rooms should be cleared of any non-standard items by the end of each day.
  6. General Etiquette:

    • Faculty and students are advised not to eat in the simulation room.

Adhering to these guidelines ensures a smooth and efficient use of CSC resources for an enhanced simulation experience. Thank you for your cooperation.
