Report: Check Fraud

Reported Offense:

On 11-19-2024 a NVCC student received an email from an alleged professor asking if they wanted a job. Upon reply saying yes, the student received two emailed checks from VCCS for office supplies. The student received instructions to also Venmo money back to another party. After venoming the money, the original check was recalled and the student was out of monies. There was another check deposited but the student did not Venmo any more money to them.

Report: Clery Burglary

Date & Time of Occurrence: November 20, 2024, at approximately 12:31 P.M.

Date & Time of Reporting: November 20, 2024, 2024 at approximately 12:51 P.M.

Location: Arts and Science Building (NOVA Woodbridge Campus)

Reported Offense:

On Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at approximately 12:51 P.M., NOVA Police received a report of a larceny from an office in the Arts and Science Building on the Woodbridge Campus. The victim reported a wallet being stolen from their bookbag, which was inside their personal office space on the first floor of the building. The larceny occurred at approximately 12:31pm. The suspect was also seen entering multiple classrooms on the first floor of the Arts and Science Building.

The NOVA Police Department is investigating this incident. Should you have any further information regarding this incident please make a notification at 703-764-5000.

Suspect’s Description:

Black male, approximately 6’ feet tall, and approximately 200 lbs. The suspect was last seen wearing a red “Washington Commanders” hat, a white face mask, a white and grey North Face hoodie, red t-shirt, grey sweatpants, and white Nike shoes.

Report: Theft of Motor Vehicle

Date & Time of Occurrence: November 7, 2024, between 10:30 A.M. and 1:55 P.M.

Date & Time of Reporting: November 7, 2024, at approximately 2:00 P.M.

Location: Dawes Avenue (on-street parking) adjacent to the AE Building

Reported Offense:

On Thursday, November 7, 2024, at approximately 2:00 P.M., NOVA Police received a report of a motor vehicle that was stolen while parked on Dawes Avenue adjacent to the AE Building. The complainant stated they arrived on campus at approximately 10:30 A.M. and upon returning around 1:55 P.M., discovered the vehicle was missing.

The vehicle is described as a silver 2017 Hyundai Elantra with Virginia registration VCL #8442. Additional identifiers include two white zip-ties holding the splash guard of the front bumper, a small white line on the driver-side door handle, and a visible dent on the trunk. 

UPDATE

The suspect has been identified and arrested in connection with this incident, and officers have recovered the victim's vehicle.

The suspect is described as a White/Hispanic male, of medium build, with dark curly hair, around 5 feet, 10 inches, wearing a dark-colored tank top, dark pants, and a dark-colored backpack.

Reported Offense:

On Friday, October 18, 2024, at approximately 12:08 P.M., NOVA Police received a report of a possible aggravated assault by poisoning (drugging) which was to have occurred yesterday around 10:40 A.M. The victim reported that they experienced symptoms consistent with being exposed to an unknown substance after consuming a beverage. The NOVA Police Department is investigating this incident. 4940 E. Campus Drive (NOVA Alexandria Campus Beauregard Garage)

Reported Offense:
On Saturday, October 12, 2024, at approximately 8:03 A.M., NOVA Police received a report of a motor vehicle that was stolen while parked in the NOVA Alexandria Campus, Beauregard Garage. The vehicle was reported as a tan-colored Honda Accord, with Virginia registration TUA8777, that was parked on the 1st floor of the garage at approximately 5:10 P.M., on October 11, 2024. On October 12, 2024, the driver returned to his vehicle at approximately 7:00 A.M. and discovered his vehicle was missing. An unknown individual was seen entering the vehicle at approximately 4:32 A.M. on October 12, 2024, and then leaving the garage with the vehicle.

Suspect’s Description:
The suspect is described as a black male, medium build, wearing a light blue coat (with a patch on the sleeve), khaki color pants, white color shirt, white sneakers, wearing a dark color baseball cap and black bookbag.

Report: Assault

Date & Time of Occurrence: October 1, 2024, at 4:24 pm

Date & Time of Reporting: October 1, 2024, at 4:24 pm

Location: Loudoun Campus, Ankers Shop Circle Bus Stop

Reported Offense: On Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 4:24 pm NOVA Police received a report of a suspicious person. The subject was having a verbal altercation with a Fairfax Connector bus driver at the Bus Stop on the Loudoun Campus. During a follow-up investigation on October 4, 2024, an independent witness stated the subject had made verbal threats. No weapons were displayed during the event or when the suspect was encountered by police.

Update (Oct 7, 2024): The suspect has been identified and arrested. The suspect has no affiliation with NOVA and has also been issued a "No Trespass Order".

Suspect’s Description: The suspect is described as a black male, of medium build, with facial hair, around 6 feet tall wearing a dark-colored hoodie, dark pants, and a dark-colored backpack.

Report: Theft of Motor Vehicle (Scooter)

September 11, 2024, at approximately 11:48 a.m.

September 11, 2024, at approximately 5:36 p.m.

Location:
5000 Dawes Ave Bisdorf Building (Bike Rack In-Front of Bus Loop)

Reported Offense:
On Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at approximately 5:36 p.m. a student reported to NOVA Police the theft of his electric scooter. The scooter was locked to a bike rack located near the Bus Loop area by Bisdorf exterior door 2A1. An unknown individual removed the lock and rode off with the scooter at approximately 11:48 a.m.

Suspect’s Description:
The suspect is described as a black male, thin build, wearing a dark-colored shirt (unknown writing on it), black pants, light-colored shoes, baseball hat, and light color backpack.

Report:  Attempted Theft of Motor Vehicle

Beauregard Street Parking Garage (AP2), Level One

Reported Offense:
On Saturday, July 6, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m. NOVA Police responded to the Beauregard Street Parking Garage (AP2), Level One for a report of vandalism (broken windows) to cars parked in the area.  On Monday, July 8, 2024, at approximately 2:15 p.m. the continuing investigation revealed one of the vehicles had been entered and the ignition had been tampered with.

Suspect’s Description:
Suspect is described as a male, mid-20's with ear length dark hair and a moustache.  Suspect was wearing a black t-shirt with white letters on the right chest area and on the back of the shirt, black shorts with white spots on them, knee length white socks, and grey and white sneakers.

A known suspect sexually assaulted a victim within the non-campus student housing.

Suspect’s Description:
A Hispanic male approximately 5'10 wearing a black top, black pants, black knit hat and black slides sexually assaulted a female in the CA building in the third-floor lounge area. Suspect last seen getting into a light-colored Toyota Rav 4 in the A1 parking lot at approximately 9:01 p.m. The vehicle was last seen exiting onto Wakefield Chapel Rd.

On Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 6:25 p.m., NOVA PD was advised of a sexual assault that occurred on May 10, 2023, at approximately 6:15p.m. at Logan Way and Whitefield plaza on the Loudoun Campus.

Suspect’s Description:
Light skinned Hispanic male, approximately 5'8-5'10, short brown hair, wearing a blue medical mask, grey t-shirt, black hat, military green pants, and black shoes.

On Monday, March 06, 2023, at 2:31 p.m., NOVA PD was advised of a sexual battery that occurred today, March 06, 2023, at approximately 10:10 a.m. in the Barnes and Noble Bookstore located in the CA building of the Annandale Campus.

The suspect has not yet been identified.

Suspect’s Description:
Suspect is described as a white male, with short blonde hair and a beard and was wearing a black jacket, blue pants and flip flops.

On Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 11:49 p.m., NOVA PD was advised by email of a sexual battery that occurred on February 1, 2023, at approximately 10:30 p.m. in the elevator of Howsmon Hall.

All parties have been identified, and there is currently NO threat to the College Community.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic female, approximately 5’3’ with black hair and eyes.

On Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 7:30 a.m., NOVA police was notified of a burglary on the first floor of the CF building.

Male, approximately six feet tall with short hair, beard, green t-shirt with a multi-colored bird with wings spread on the front, faded blue jeans, and brown shoes.

On Wednesday, September 04, 2019, at approximately 2:32 pm, NOVA PD was notified of a reported sexual battery on the NOVA Annandale Campus. The victim stated she was touched inappropriately by a male without her consent. Suspect was last seen leaving the  CG building third floor library in an unknown direction.

Suspect’s Description:
The suspect is described by the victim as a black male approximately 6’1”, skinny build, about mid 20’s, red t-shirt, jeans, and wearing braces.

On Thursday June 27, 2019, at approximately 2:45pm,  NOVA PD was notified of a reported sexual battery on the NOVA Woodbridge Campus. The victim stated she was touched inappropriately by a male without her consent. He  then left the WAS third floor office area and was last seen in the WAS lobby.

Suspect’s Description:
The suspect is described as a Middle Eastern short male, in 50’s to 60’s, Wearing a blue/grey short sleeve shirt tan pants and sandals.  Suspect is balding with a black moustache.

On Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at approximately 1:00pm, NOVA Police Department was notified of a sexual battery on the NOVA Loudoun Campus. The victim stated she was touched inappropriately by a male without her consent.

Suspect’s Description:

The suspect is described as a black male approximately 6’0” tall, medium building, approximately 30 years old, wearing dark blue pants, red button up t-shirt, and a dark blue jacket.

On Tuesday December 4, 2018 at approximately 8:00 pm at the Annandale campus, Police were notified of an assault and battery on campus.  The suspect was known to the victim. On Wednesday December 5, 2018 Fairfax county Magistrate issued arrest warrants for the suspect to include robbery, destruction of property and assault and battery.    

Suspect’s Description:

White male approximately 5’10”, 160 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes.

On Thursday, October 25, 2018, at 2:30 p.m., NVCC Police were notified of a sexual assault that occurred at 12:30 p.m. in the Bisdorf Building at the Alexandria campus. The incident occurred when a student inappropriately touched another student without consent. 

Suspect’s Description:
Black male approximately in his mid 30's. 6 foot 2 inches tall, weighing approximately 285 lbs. and heavy set build. No clothing description at this time.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office contacted NOVA Police and are investigating the event.

The victim and suspect both non students, were visiting the Loudoun campus and are known to each other. The suspect touched the victim inappropriately.

The victim stated she was touched inappropriately by an  unknown person. There were two subsequent reports of similar incidents at 7pm and 7:30pm.

Suspect’s Description:
The suspect in each case is described as a black male approximately 5’8”, thin build, early twenties wearing baggy dark clothing.

The victim stated she was touched inappropriately by an acquaintance while in the cafeteria in the CF building on the Annandale Campus. 

Suspect’s Description:
The suspect, who is an acquaintance of the victim, is described as a Hispanic male, medium build. On that day, he was wearing a wearing a buttoned up shirt, tan pants.

Suspect’s Description:
The suspect, who is known to the victim, is described as a black male approximately 5’10” tall wearing dark pants and a polo shirt.

On Monday, March 27, 2017, at approximately 4:33 p.m., NOVA PD was notified of a strong arm robbery at the Alexandria Campus.

The suspect took the phone from the victim which resulted in a physical altercation and destruction of the phone.

On Wednesday February 01, 2017, at approximately 8:50 p.m., NOVA PD was notified of a reported Armed Robbery near the NOVA Manassas Campus.

The victim stated the suspect approached them brandishing a black handgun in the parking lot of the famous footwear store on Bulloch Drive near the Manassas Campus. The suspect was last seen on foot near the woodline on Battleview Drive near the Manassas campus.

The suspect is described as a white male, 6' tall, wearing a green beanie, grey shirt, blue jeans and armed with a black handgun.
