In addition, the student who completes the program may choose to transfer to a four-year institution to pursue a bachelor's degree in Electronics Technology. Occupational objectives include electronics technician, computer technician, telecommunications technician, radio and television technician, metrology technician, research and development technician, and industrial control technician. Transfer Information: NVCC has formal articulation agreements for transfer to the B.S. in Engineering Technology-Electrical Engineering Technology and the B.S. in Computer Engineering Technology at Old Dominion University TELETECHNET and Old Dominion University at Norfolk, VA, as well as the B.S. in Vocational Industrial Education at Virginia Tech. Recommended Preparation: Successful completion of high school algebra and geometry.
Total credits for the A.A.S. Degree in Electronics = 66. 1 The PED requirement may be met by one of the following options: PED 116, 2 cr.; PED 116, 1 cr. plus a PED activities course, 1 cr.; or PED 116, 1 cr. plus RPK 205, 207, 208, 216, or 225. PED 116 is offered as both a 1- credit and a 2-credit course. 2 The social science elective may be selected from the following: economics, geography, history, political science, psychology, or sociology (includes anthropology).
