Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) is a
two-year comprehensive community college offering college-transfer,
occupational-technical programs, and non-credit continuing education
courses. NVCC has five campuses (Alexandria,
Annandale, Loudoun,
Manassas, and Woodbridge)
conveniently located throughout Northern Virginia, and an Extended
Learning Institute (ELI) offering courses for home study and
distance learning. A new Medical Education Center
located in Springfield and dedicated to education in Medical Technologies
opened its doors in fall 2003.
The mission of NVCC is to respond to the educational needs of
its dynamic and diverse constituencies through an array of comprehensive
programs and services that facilitate learning and workforce development
in an environment of open access and through lifelong educational
opportunities.
NVCC is a part of the Virginia Community
College System (VCCS) and is accredited by the Commission on
Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866
Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia, 30033-4097, telephone number 404-679-4501)
to award associate degrees, and certificates in selected occupational
areas. It is the policy of both Northern Virginia Community College
and the Virginia Community College System to maintain and promote
