PHLEBOTOMY
Career Studies Certificate AN

Purpose: The career studies certificate in Phlebotomy is designed to prepare personnel who collect and process blood and other samples for medical laboratory analysis. Phlebotomists work in hospitals, medical clinics, commercial laboratories, and in other settings where blood is collected from patients. The curriculum includes learning experiences in both on-campus laboratories and affiliated clinical laboratories.

Admission Requirements:

1. Must be admitted to NVCC and have designated Annandale as home campus.

2. Must attend a Phlebotomy Information Session.

3. Must qualify for or have completed ENG 111.

Advanced Standing: Persons who have been certified by a national agency as a phlebotomist or who have documented extensive experience in phlebotomy may seek advanced standing for MDL 190 (Coordinated Practice in Phlebotomy).
