ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
Mechanical Engineering Technology Specialization AN

Purpose: This curriculum is designed to prepare the student for employment as a mechanical engineering technician or for transfer to a four-year college to seek a bachelor’s degree. Students who intend to transfer to a four-year degree program must see a faculty advisor prior to selecting courses. Occupational objectives include mechanical draftsman, engineering technician, research and development technician, engineering equipment inspector, engineering plant operator or estimator.

Total credits for A.A.S. Degree in Engineering Technology with a Specialization in Mechanical Engineering Technology = 67-69.

1 DRF 151 may be substituted for EGR 115.

2 MTH 163-164, 6 cr., may be substituted for MTH 166.

3 The PED requirement may be met by one of the following options: PED 116, 2 cr.; PED 116, 1 cr. plus a PED activities course, 1 cr.; or PED 116, 1 cr. plus RPK 205, 216, or 225. PED 116 is offered as both a 1-credit and a 2-credit course.

4The social science elective may be selected from the economics, geography, history, political science, psychology, or sociology (includes anthropology) courses listed on pages 40-41.  Students planning to transfer should consider taking HIS 101-102 or HIS 111-112.

5 Or select HIS 102, 111-112, 255, or 256 with approval of faculty advisor.

6 CIV courses are offered only on the Alexandria Campus. Technical electives may be selected from ARC, CIV, DRF, or ETR prefixes.

7 The SPD elective may be selected from the following:  SPD 100, 110, 115, 126, 227 or 229.
