HORTICULTURE TECHNOLOGY
Associate in Applied Science Degree LO
Purpose: The curriculum is designed to prepare students
for full-time employment within the field of commercial horticulture
as well as for those presently working who seek further knowledge
and advancement.
Graduates of the program are prepared for managerial/supervisory
level positions in areas which include: landscape design and
installation, grounds maintenance, floristry, greenhouse and nursery
management, garden center operation, and sales and marketing in
related industries.
Students in this program have an opportunity to gain career-related
work experience through Cooperative Education or internship in
their area of emphasis.

To graduate from a degree program, students entering NVCC Fall
1999 or later must demonstrate computer competency skills as
described in the Degree Requirements section of the Instructional
Programs of this catalog.
1 The PED requirement
may be met by one of the following options: PED 116, 2 cr.; PED
116, 1 cr. plus a PED activities course, 1 cr.; or PED 116, 1
cr. plus RPK 205, 216, or 225. PED 116 is offered as both a 1-credit
and a 2-credit course.
2 Humanities/fine arts
elective may be chosen from list on page 38.
3 The social science
elective may be selected from the following: economics, geography,
history, political science, psychology, or sociology (includes
anthropology).
