REMINDER: Unauthorized (Phishing) Email Account Information Requests
This is a reminder that there are still some unauthorized email requests circulating to NVCC faculty, staff and students. Remember, neither VCCS or NVCC will ever ask you for your password or other sensitive information via email. Please be vigilant in recognizing these kinds of ‘phishing’ emails. Disregard their instructions and delete them immediately. Never respond to them or to any email that you feel may be suspicious. If you are in doubt as to whether an email is an authentic VCCS or NVCC email communication, please contact the IT Help Desk.
Planned Mail Servers Maintenance
Posted 11.21.06 | 9:00 am
On Wednesday, Nov 22, beginning at 10 AM, through Sunday, Nov 26, ending by 12 midnight, ITSS will be performing general maintenance on all faculty & staff Mail Servers. Before leaving for the holiday, (but, no later than Wednesday, 11/22 at 10AM) please close Outlook completely and shut down your PC. The maintenance will not impact inbound or outbound mail flow. However, a few users may notice intermittent interruptions in their email access.
Throughout the 5 day maintenance window, most users should be able to access their email through Outlook Web Access (WEB MAIL); or, through a POP3 client such as Outlook Express; or, through MAPI clients such as Outlook 2003. If you are unable to gain access to your email for any reason during the maintenance, try again later in the day or wait for maintenance to complete.
On Monday, Nov 27, if you have any problems accessing your email, here are some suggestions:
- If Outlook is open, close it completely. Then, re-launch Outlook.
- Logoff from domain and then logon again to see if your password is still valid and has not expired. Then launch Outlook
- Try to logon through Outlook Web Access Server
- If problems persists, call the IT Help Desk

We will do our best to help you, but may have to refer you to Microsoft since this is their software. Here is a Microsoft support link that may prove helpful. It addresses some of the ‘known issues’ associated with the 7.0 download.
