Svalbard's sea monster
National Geographic has an article online about a cool new fossil from Spitsbergen, Svalbard (the Arctic island achipelago belonging to Norway). It's a plesiosaur, a marine reptile from the Jurassic period of geologic time. The front flipper is almost ten feet (3 m) long!
