Wolfram Alpha

A computational search engine? Holy cow.

You have got to check this out. (Wait for it to load, then watch the introductory video.) This appears to be a vision of the future for folks who are interested in data.

Very impressive site. There doesn't seem to be loads of geology on there yet, but the potential is amazing. How about you input a formation name, and get a map of that unit's exposures, list of publications about it, etc.?

My son pointed me at this when he went to an unveiling of sorts in Boston a few weeks ago. Definitely the next step up in searching.
