Election maps
Four years ago, this website gave me some solace in looking at the breakdown between "red" and "blue" states. Now the author, Mark Newman, has performed some similar cartography on the 2008 presidential election results. By skewing the map to represent each state's electoral influence (not just its physical area), and how strongly it went for either candidate, you get a more accurate idea of how the nation voted.
