Annotated "Where on Google Earth?" #4
A fresh location for the new round of A.W.o.G.E. This time we're visiting a syncline that was exposed in a roadcut about 20 years ago. I've blocked out the data source, since that could help narrow the search, and I'd also like to point out that I should have put an "s" on "geologist" in the lowermost annotation. Oops.

Uh, Callan the image isn't there. Broken link? The http address in the source code didn't work either.
Looks like the NOVA servers were down earlier today (perhaps when you tried to view it). But one would think that would mean you couldn't see the blog itself. I just reloaded it. I can see it... Can YOU seen it now?
I assume I count as disqualified for answering this, since I went there with you.
To be slightly less elliptical, it is the only field trip I've been on with you where it was neither for one of your basic geology classes, nor were crabs or barbecue consumed afterwards.
And obviously, it was from the first part, where no darkness was involved.
Jay,
You can answer -- Go for it. Let everyone know. In fact, I'll give you TWO bumper stickers if you give everyone a nice little summary of the site -- what we saw there, etc.

My guess is Sideling Hill in Maryland. -Sam K.
Sam beats Jay to the punch! Sam, you win!
Okay, I see that it's on Route 68, and that the north half of the roadcut is barely in Maryland. Also that this is one of the few east-west roads in the Appalachians that I didn't look at carefully! Oh, well!
