American Sign Language and English Interpretation

The American Sign Language (ASL) department offers an Associate in Applied Science degree in ASL-English Interpretation. This two-year program that prepares students to take the state and national certification exams for ASL Interpreters. In addition, two Career Studies Certificate programs are available: the ASL Certificate and the ASL Interpreting Certificate. The ASL certificate is designed to provide students with knowledge of the language and culture of the Deaf community. The ASL Interpreting Certificate is geared towards students who are interested in learning the theories and skills of interpreting without completing all of the courses required for the degree program.

Students enrolling in the A.A.S. degree or certificate programs do so for a variety of reasons. Whatever a student's interest, our qualified instructors provide a proper introduction to ASL and the Deaf Community/Culture and ASL - English Interpretation.
